Dr. Eckert's BIography
Dr. Stacy Eckert is beginning her first year as Choir Director.
She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre/Voice from the
University of Kansas; a Master of Music in Vocal Performance
with a minor in Theatre from the University of Illinois in
Urbana; and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance
with a minor in Theatre from the University of Illinois in
Urbana.
In 1990, she began teaching in the Music Department at St.
Xavier University in Chicago. In 1991, she joined the Chicago
Symphony Chorus, and the Lyric Supplemental Chorus. In 1995,
Dr. Eckert made her Carnegie Hall debut. Soon after she signed
with Chicago Concert Artists and has performed all over the
U.S., and in Italy and Germany as a soloist.
Dr. Eckert has sung the title role in Georges Bizet’s Carmen
numerous times, as well as the Mezzo solo in Verdi’s Requiem.
Other solo credits include Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony,
Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Bernstein’s Jeremiah
Symphony, and has understudied the role of “Waltraute” in
Lyric Opera of Chicago’s productions of Die Walkure.
Dr. Eckert is the Choir Director and a cantor at St. Mary’s
Parish in Mokena where she attends Mass with her husband, Paul,
and children, Kelly and Justin.
