Team members are a vital part to increasing school spirit
and fan participation at athletic and school events.
Cheerleaders perform at all home and away football games and
all home basketball games. The team also performs at all
playoff games for both sports. Besides games, our
cheerleaders will compete numerous times throughout the
season. Cheerleading is now a recognized sport by the
Illinois High School Association.
There are two squad levels: Junior Varsity and Varsity.
More specific squad information will be given at tryouts.
Cheerleading season begins in May and runs through
February. Practices are held 3 days a week including 1 team
tumbling class, limiting participation in other
extra-curricular activities and driver’s education classes.
Attendance at games, competitions, choreography, camp,
and practices are mandatory. After academics, the
cheerleading team is the first priority.
The cost of the cheerleading program is at the expense of
the cheerleader. Fundraising is available. Full cost
disclosure will be provided at the tryout meeting April 20,
2009 at 7pm in the PCHS cafeteria.
