GENERAL:
Students who live within the Minooka School District may pick up
registration forms for summer Driver’s Ed classes in the
Guidance Center. Registration forms are due by March 5.

ACTIVITIES & CLUBS:
Math Team:
Congratulations
to Adam Lamanna, Terry Harris, Allison Mackay,
Logan Springgate, Matt Ro, and Billy Kim
on their fourth place finish at Loyola University on Saturday,
2/6 , against the top high school math students in the
Chicagoland area.
VOTING FOR CLASS SWEETHEARTS:
Final voting for Class Sweethearts will take place today in TDTs.
Please vote for the young woman who best exemplifies kindness,
generosity, and Christian values toward her fellow students.
DANCE TICKETS:
Tickets will be sold for the Sweetheart Dance on Tuesday, Wed.,
and Thurs. in all lunches. (They will NOT be sold on Friday due
to the retreat) Tickets cost $10 per person and must be paid
with a check. Absolutely NO CASH will be accepted. The dance is
from 7:30-10:30pm on Sunday Feb. 14th.
Freshmen: Freshmen Bake Sale
on Tuesday, Feb. 9th. Refer to your informational
letters you received in English class.
PROVISCOPE:
The February meeting for the Proviscope will take place
on Wednesday, February 10th at 7:30 AM in the cafeteria. Editor
Brigid Presecky will assign stories to all writers. New writers
are always welcome. Contact Brigid at
brigidpresecky@yahoo.com with any questions.
NHS:
There will be a brief meeting for Seniors in the
National Honor Society on Thursday, February 11th
at 9:00 AM in Room 222. All must attend. Also, Mokena Outdoor
Education Applications are available from Mr. Oliver in Room
114.
A meeting will be held at 9:00 on Thursday February 11 in room
20 to begin planning the Providence Trip to France for June
of 2011. The trip is open to those students who will be
juniors or seniors next year and will be or have ever been
enrolled in French at Providence. Come get the information and
a registration form. If you can’t make the meeting but are
still interested in the trip make sure you stop by to see Mr.
Austrums some other time. Merci.
NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY:
Congratulations Matthew Rapata, Nick Hawkinson, Kathleen
Kennedy, and Ally Owoc, the newest members of the National Art
Honor Society!!!!!!!! The Art Society will meet this
Wednesday in the art room. Both former and new members are
expected to attend. The Haiti House Sale schedule will be
available.
HAITI HOUSE SALE:
Beginning next Tuesday, Feb. 16 until Friday, Feb. 19, the art
students will be selling pins and refrigerator magnets for a $5
donation to help the people of Haiti recover from the
devastating earthquake. Please bring extra money to lunch next
week so that you can buy an original work of art while
contributing to a very worthwhile cause!!!

SPORTS:
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE POMS: THE CELTIC POMS
held their first Invitational on Sunday hosting 32 schools. The
Poms placed 1st in Kick, 1st in Poms and
won the East Suburban catholic Conference. Congratulations,
ladies! Mrs. Bayci and Mrs.
Barkowski would like to thank our student volunteers who went
above and beyond…you were amazing!!
Your Celtic spirit touched our hearts. Thank you to the
Adminstration for your support in this endeavor.
WRESTLING:
Congratulations to the Wrestling team as the advanced 11
individuals to Sectionals. Regional Champs are Eddie Klimara,
Edwin Cooper and Mike Togher. Good Luck to Cole Ferguson (103),
Thomas Ambrose (125), Dan Zelazik (152), Brian Walsh (160), Sean
Downes (171), Cody Weaver (189), Jacob Sheffer (215), and Steve
Laski (285). Sectionals will start Friday down at Edwardsville
High School.
GIRLS BASKETBALL:
-
Recap: On Saturday, all teams played Benet Academy in our
final ESCC game. The Freshman A team won 39-38 and improved
their overall record to 20-5 and 6-3 in the ESCC. The
Freshman B also continued their winning ways by pulling out
the victory 26-24. The Sophomore team worked hard to find
the right tempo but fell short on the scoreboard their
effort and hustle was very good. The Varsity pulled out a
victory with a solid team effort by a score of 45-43.
Brianne Vandenberg hit two free throws in the final seconds
and finished with 9 points, Cassidy Glenn scored 14 points,
Emily Persak hit for 9 points and Katie Budz and Danielle
Barry provided 4 points each and provided solid ball
handling and rebounding throughout the contest. The Varsity
improved their record to 16-13 and 5-5 in the ESCC (the best
girls Varsity finish to date!). Congrats to all.

Tuesday:
Will be our final
non-conference game at Downers Grove South. Freshman A & B
and Sophomores will start at 6:00pm followed by a 7:30pm
start for the Varsity.

REGIONAL MATCH-UP game on
Tuesday February 16th at Sandburg H.S at 8:00pm----opponent
Sandburg. A
good loud group of fans will be appreciated! Come out
support the team and have some fun!
Friday night our Sophomore Boys Basketball team defeated
Brother Rice at Provi 64-55. Our Celtics were led by; Brian Oddo
with 16 points, Brien Garvey with 15 points, Kevin Kozan with 7
points,5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, and Matt Powell with
6 for 6 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter.
HEROES HELPS:
Come out and support the
Providence Catholic High School Wrestling on Monday, Feb.15 at
Heroes West Sports Grill. 10% of all purchases made by
supporters of PCHS Wrestling will be donated to PCHS Wrestling.
Simply inform your server that you are here for Providence
Wrestling and you will be given an entry form. Information is
available in the Main Office.
