Dear Parents of a Providence Junior Class
Member:
I A L A C
Two years ago the junior class (as freshmen)
entered Providence Catholic High School and were given a pin
with these letters on it: IALAC. The letters were translated,
I Am Lovable And Capable, and
the students were told that the next four years would be a
journey of self-discovery. Led by the spirit and accompanied by
the caring community of Providence they have arrived at their
junior year, a year during which we recognize their status as
upperclassmen and as leaders in the school.
I am pleased to invite you to an all-school Mass
which celebrates Junior Class Recognition and the Feast of All
Saints, scheduled for Thursday, November 1st at 9:40
AM. This occasion is so significant for the junior class, and
for the life of our school, that ALL JUNIORS ARE REQUIRED TO
BE PRESENT.
All juniors must be dressed appropriately for
this occasion as described under the section entitled, “Special
Mass Days” on page 34 of the Student/Parent Handbook. At the
end of 5th period, all juniors will be dismissed to
come directly to the Immaculate Heart of Mary gym. Please
understand that the point of the ceremony focuses upon the
people present in the junior class rather than on their class
rings. Students who have purchased class rings will receive
them before the Mass. For family reasons, a student may wear
another ring or a special piece of jewelry. The blessing will
take place at the Recognition Ceremony.
When the Mass and Ceremony are completed, juniors
will be free to enjoy the rest of the day with their parents. I
strongly encourage you to plan something to celebrate this
special day with your junior student, showing them how proud you
are of their maturity and achievements. Please note, however,
that this is NOT a free day for any other students at
Providence; therefore, please do not take other children out of
school this day. We ask you to celebrate only with your junior
student to make this a cherished time of recognition for them
alone. Please make every effort to have at least one parent
attend; it is important to our young people to feel supported.
All of us at Providence Catholic look forward to
seeing you on Thursday, November 1st at 9:40 AM for a
prayerful celebration of the Junior Class.
Sincerely,
Donald E. Sebestyen, Principal
