Why Take Music?

Marching Band

The Providence Catholic Band class is an honors accredited class. The band’s program is broken up into two distinctive parts.

The fall semester is mainly dedicated to marching performances including performances at all home football games. The band marches in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day parade. The band competes in select marching band competitions. The Providence band also enhances the student experience by touring all over the country every other year. They alternate performing at major bowl games to concert band tours.

The Providence Catholic Marching Celtics are the heart and soul of many school events. The band performs and rocks the stands during football season as well as performs field shows for pregame and halftime, creating a university-like atmosphere. During basketball season the band continues to energize the crowd and the school. The band is split in half into a white and green band and performs for a select number of boys' and girls' varsity games.

Band Students are also nominated to become members of the prestigious TRI-M Music Society, a national honor society program designed especially for music students. Students attain different levels of status as they move from year to year.

Students are encouraged to be involved in student life such as sports and clubs as well as band. For those music students who want to take their musical experience a step further, AP Music Theory and a Music Appreciation courses are offered in the curriculum.
