Choir

General Information
There are two choirs at PCHS: The Singing Celtics Choir and Beginning Choir. Juniors and Seniors are eligible to take the Honors Choir tract of Concert Choir. Students from the choirs serve as Cantors for the all-school Masses and the combined choirs provide many anthems, preludes, postludes and communion meditations, as well. Singers also get to sing the National Anthem at many of our home sporting events.



The music we sing is usually in three or four-part harmonies. We work on music of all languages and styles; from the “Lacrymosa” of Mozart’s Requiem to “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz. We sing in many languages including Latin, German, Spanish, French, Italian as well as English. The choirs go on a caroling tour in December; take field trips to attend Broadway, Operatic and Classical music concerts or shows each year; and compete in the IMEA district auditions and the IHSA Solo and Ensemble competition. For the past 3 years, The Singing Celtics have received a “I” (Excellent) rating at IHSA Solo and Ensemble Competition.

Upcoming Performances & Events
On Dec 1st, the choir will be performing at the Bishop’s Circle Dinner at Butterfield Country Club in Oak Brook. We are the only choir in the entire Archdiocese performing.

December 11th is our Christmas Concert at 3PM. Admission is free, but we are collecting Toys for children in conjunction with AYM. Your donation is greatly appreciated!

February 21st is our Music Step-Up Night! We invite any interested 7th and 8th grade musicians to join our choirs and band for the day. We meet after school for some rehearsal, have fun and laughter over a provided dinner, and then entertain our family and friends with a concert which begins around 6:30PM.

March 21st is Music Ensemble night. Those students who received a “I” (Excellent) rating at IHSA and Ensemble competition are invited to perform. Soloists and various groupings of musicians will perform. What a great opportunity to hear the high caliber of musicians we have here at Provi!

The final chance you will have to hear us in concert will be May 15 at 7:00PM. Our Spring Concert is always a favorite as we honor our Seniors and give our Concert Choir President a chance to sing a solo.
