Ten Providence Catholic Student-Athletes make College Commitments
(New Lenox) - Don Sebestyen, Principal of
Providence Catholic High School, is pleased to announce that seniors
Nick Beller, Sean Fitzgerald, Cassidy Glenn, Michael Hryn, Jack Klyczek,
Nora Mitros, Chris Salazar, Kelly Sloyan, Lindsay Smoljan and Kevin
Tully have made commitments to continue playing their respective sports
at the collegiate level. “We are very proud of these talented students
who have worked hard both in and outside of the classroom. We wish them
the very best,” said Sebestyen.

Nick Beller, son of Mike and Judy Beller
of Homer Glen, committed to pursue his track and field and cross country
career at Loyola University of Chicago. He received the Damen Academic
Scholarship and plans to major in Biology. Beller is a graduate of
Homer Junior High and a parishioner at Our Mother of Good Counsel. The
honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society and an AP
Scholar and Illinois State Scholar. Beller has been a member of the
Celtic track & field team as well as the football team his entire high
school career. Furthermore, he was a member of the cross country team
for the past two years.
Sean Fitzgerald of Manhattan, son of Dan
and Katie Penwitt and John and Jennifer Fitzgerald, committed to play
football for Augustana College where he plans to major in Pre-Physical
Therapy and Biology. Fitzgerald is a graduate of St. Joseph School
(Manhattan) and a member of their parish. The honor roll student is a
member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor
Society, is an Illinois State Scholar, Student Ambassador and has been a
member of the Student Council for the past four years. Furthermore, he
was named to the All-State Academic Team. Fitzgerald has played for
both the Celtic football and track & field team his entire high school
career. In addition, as team co-captain, he was named to the CCL Blue
All-Conference Team and 3rd Team All-Area. Fitzgerald was also a State
qualifier for high jump last season.
Cassidy Glenn, daughter of Daniel and
Angela Glenn of Blue Island, signed her National Letter of Intent to
attend Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC on a full athletic
scholarship where she plans to major in Pharmacy and continue her
basketball career. Glenn is a graduate of Saint Kieran where she is
also a parishioner. The honor roll student has been a member of the
Celtic basketball team her entire high school career. As guard/forward,
she is the second leading scorer in PCHS history with 1,308 points.
Glenn averages 16.7 points and 7 rebounds per game. Furthermore, she
was the MVP for the past three years and was named ESCC All-Conference,
Southtown Star All-Area and Joliet Herald All-Area Teams.
Michael Hryn, son of Michael and Mary Hryn
of Tinley Park, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend St.
Ambrose University on a combined academic and athletic scholarship where
he will continue his football career. He is currently undecided on his
major. Hryn is a graduate of Prairie View Junior High and a parishioner
at St. Stephen Church. Hryn is a member of the Strategic Games Club and
has been a member of the Celtic football and wrestling teams for the
past four years. In 2011, Hryn was named the Most Improved Defensive
Player.
Jack Klyczek, son of Mark and Patti
Klyczek of Monee, committed to play football for Culver-Stockton College
in Canton, MO where he plans to major in Sports Management. Klyczek is
a graduate of Crete-Monee Middle School and a parishioner at St.
Boniface. He has played for the Celtic football team his entire high
school career and member of the track team for the past two seasons.
Nora Mitros, daughter of Kevin and Anne
Mitros of Mokena, signed her National Letter of Intent to attend St.
Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN on a combined academic and athletic
scholarship where she plans to major in Education and continue her
volleyball career. Mitros is a graduate of St. Mary (Mokena) and a
member of their parish. The honor roll student is a member of the
Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM), is a Celtic Time Advisor, Student
Ambassador, Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan and a Teacher’s Aide.
Furthermore, Mitros has been a member of the Celtic varsity volleyball
team for the past four years. During her junior year, Mitros was named
All-State 2nd Team, All-Area and All-Conference and Southtown Star
All-Star Team.
Chris Salazar, son of Philip and Kara
Curran of Plainfield committed to play football for Augustana College
where he received an academic scholarship and plans to major in Business
Administration. Salazar is a graduate of Washington Junior High &
Academy and member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. The honor roll
student has played football for the past four years and baseball for the
past three years. In addition, he was named PCHS Offensive MVP.
Kelly Sloyan, daughter of Joe and Peg
Sloyan of Orland Park, committed to play volleyball for Carroll
University where she received an academic scholarship and plans to major
in Exercise Science and Physical Therapy. Sloyan is a graduate of
Cardinal Joseph Bernardin and a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi.
She has played volleyball for her entire high school career and was
named Student of the Month by the Theology Department.
Lindsay Smoljan, daughter of Arthur and
Dianna Smoljan of Mokena, committed to pursue her track and field career
at Marquette University where she received an academic scholarship and
plans to major in Psychology. Smoljan is a graduate of Mokena Junior
High and a parishioner at St. Mary Church. The honor roll student is a
member of the National Honor Society, Augustinian Youth Ministry and
Habitat for Humanity. Furthermore, she is an Illinois State Scholar.
Smoljan has been a member of the Celtic track & field team her entire
high school career and was a three-year school record holder with 10’3
in the pole vault. In addition, she was a 3A Sectional Champion and an
IHSA State Qualifier.
Kevin Tully, son of Timothy and Marianne
Tully of Orland Park committed to play baseball for the University of
Chicago where he plans to major in Economics. Tully is a graduate of
Century Junior High and a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi. The
honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society and
Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM). Furthermore, he has played on the
Celtic baseball team for the past four years and was on the wrestling
team for two years.

Seven Providence Catholic Student-Athletes make
College Commitments

Catholic High School, is pleased to announce that seniors Charles Barth,
Nick Cemeno, Eileen Kenny, Zac Morgan, Troy Sheppard, Mitch Vejvoda and
Ryan Ward have made commitments to continue playing their respective
sports at the collegiate level. “We are very proud of these talented
students who have worked hard both in and outside of the classroom. We
wish them the very best,” said Sebestyen.
Charles Barth, son of Mark and Sheila Barth of
Homer Glen, committed to play football for Western Michigan University
where he plans to major in business. Barth is a graduate of Oak Prairie
Junior High and a parishioner at St. Dennis. The honor roll student has
been a member of the Celtic football team his entire high school
career.
Nick Cemeno, son of Mike and Joy Cemeno of
Shorewood, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend St. Xavier
University on a combined academic and athletic scholarship where he
plans to major in Business and continue his football career. Cemeno is
a graduate of St. Paul the Apostle and parishioner at St. John the
Baptist. The honor roll student has played for the Celtic football
team his entire high school career and the track team for the past three
years. In addition, Cemeno was named CCL Blue All-Conference Team and
All-Area (second team) for football.
Eileen Kenny, daughter of James and Mary Kenny of
Tinley Park, signed her National Letter of Intent to attend the
University of Illinois-Springfield on an athletic scholarship where she
plans to major in business and continue her soccer career. Kenny is a
graduate of Grissom Middle School and a parishioner at St. Julie
Billiart.
Zac Morgan, son of Tim and Lynn Morgan of Mokena,
committed to play football for the University of Dayton where he
received an academic scholarship and plans to major in Business. Morgan
is a graduate of Mokena Junior High and a parishioner at St. Mary
Catholic Church. The honor roll student is a member of the National
Honor Society and has played for the Celtic football team his entire
high school career. Morgan has also been a member of the wrestling team
for the past three years. Furthermore, he was named to the CCL Blue
All-Conference Team and Academic All-State.
Troy Sheppard, son of Larry and Andrea Sheppard
of Joliet, committed to play football for Northwestern University. He
is currently undecided on his major. Sheppard is a graduate of
Washington Junior High & Academy and member of Our Savior Lutheran
Church. The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor
Society, Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM) and an Illinois State
Scholar. Furthermore, he has played for the Celtic football and track
teams his entire high school career. In addition, Sheppard was named to
the CCL Blue All-Conference Team, All-Area, All-State (Honorable
Mention) and Academic All-State.
Mitch Vejvoda, son of Greg and Nancy Vejvoda of
Homer Glen, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend South Dakota
State University on a combined academic and athletic Scholarship where
he plans to major in Engineering and continue his football career. Vejvoda is a graduate of Homer Junior
High and a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi. The honor roll student
is an Illinois State Scholar and has played for the Celtic football team
his entire high school career. In addition, Vejvoda was named to the
All-Area team.
Ryan Ward, son of Brian and Laurel Ward of Homer
Glen signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of
Iowa on an athletic scholarship where he plans to major in Health/Human
Physiology and continue his football career. Ward is a graduate of Oak
Prairie Junior High and a parishioner at Our Mother of Good Counsel.
The honor roll student is a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. In
addition, he is a member of the National Honor Society, Augustinian
Youth Ministry (AYM) and an Illinois State Scholar. He has been a
member of the Celtic football team his entire high school career and was
the first player in Providence Catholic’s history to be selected to play
in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas,
which took place in early January. Furthermore, Ward was named to the
CCL Blue All-Conference Team and All-Area.

Eight Providence Catholic Student-Athletes make
College Commitments

Catholic High School, is pleased to announce that seniors Marty Ross,
Ryan Koziol, Zak Kutsulis, David Hearne, Brady Wilkin, Sam Tidaback,
Branden Boggetto, and Jimmy Doherty have made commitments to continue
playing their respective sports at the collegiate level. “We are very
proud of these young men who have worked hard both in and outside of the
classroom. We wish them the very best,” said Sebestyen.
Marty Ross, son of Don and Jan Ross of Frankfort, signed
his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of the Pacific on
a combined academic and athletic scholarship where he will continue his
volleyball career. He is currently undecided on his major. Ross is a
graduate of St. George and a member of their parish. The honor roll
student is a member of the Student Council and has been a member of the
Celtic volleyball team his entire high school career. Ross led the 2010
team with 239 kills and 58 blocks. Furthermore, he was named to the
All-Area team twice, the CCL All-Conference team twice and several
All-Tournament teams.
Ryan Koziol, son of Ed and Susan Koziol of Orland Park,
signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Arizona
on an athletic scholarship where he plans to major in Business
Management and continue his baseball career. Koziol is a graduate of
Palos South Middle School and a parishioner at Our Lady of the Woods.
The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society.
Koziol played baseball for the past three years and had a .405 BA, 95
RBI’s and 6 HR’s his junior year. He was also named All-Conference 1st
Team his sophomore and junior years.

Zak Kutsulis, son of Andrew and Theresa Kutsulis of
Homer Glen, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the
University of Notre Dame on an athletic scholarship where he will
continue his baseball career. He is currently undecided on his major.
Kutsulis is a graduate of Homer Junior High and member of Saints
Constantine and Helen Church. The honor roll student is a member of the
National Honor Society and played for the Celtic baseball team his
entire high school career. Last season, Kutsulis had a .378 BA, 17
RBI’s, 4 HR’s and a 2.78 ERA.
David Hearne, son of David and Bridie Hearne of Homer
Glen, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of
Notre Dame on an athletic scholarship where he plans to major in Business and continue his baseball
career. Hearne is a graduate of Homer Junior High and a parishioner at
Our Mother of Good Council. The honor roll student has played for the
Celtic baseball team his entire high school career.
Brady Wilkin, son of Bill and Laura Wilkin of Orland
Park, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Bradley University
on a combined academic and athletic scholarship where he plans to major
in Mechanical Engineering and continue his baseball career. Wilkin is a
graduate of St. Michael School and member of their parish. The honor
roll student is a member of National Honor Society and received the
Physics Honors Award his junior year. Wilkin has played for the Celtic
baseball team for the past three years and as outfielder had a .400 AVG,
.421 OBP and 41 RUNS.

Sam Tidaback, son of Jim and Julie Tidaback of
Plainfield, committed to play baseball at Ball State University on a
combined academic and athletic scholarship where he plans to major in
Sports Administration and will continue his baseball career. Tidaback is
a graduate of St. Mary Immaculate and a member of their parish. The
honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society,
Augustinian Youth Ministry and Celtic Nation. Furthermore, Tidaback has
played for the Celtic baseball team his entire high school career.
Branden Boggetto, son of Brad and Michelle Boggetto of
Joliet, committed to play baseball at Southeast Missouri State
University. He is currently undecided on his major. Boggetto is a
graduate of St. Paul the Apostle and a member of their parish. The
honor roll student has played for the Celtic baseball team his entire
high school career.
Jimmy Doherty, son of Jim and Kathy Doherty of
Frankfort, committed to play baseball at Benedictine University. He is
currently undecided on his major. Doherty is a graduate of St. Damian
and a parishioner at St. Anthony’s. He has played for the Celtic
baseball team his entire high school career.
