Student Augustinian Values Institute

History of SAVI
The first SAVI was held in April, 2010 at St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago, IL. The Augustinian schools in attendance included:

Cascia Hall—Tulsa, OK
Malvern Prep—Malvern, PA
Providence Catholic—New Lenox, IL
St. Augustine Prep—Richland, NJ
St. Augustine—San Diego, CA
St. Rita of Cascia—Chicago, IL
Villanova Prep—Ojai, CA
Villanova College—King City, Ontario

51 students represented the eight Augustinian schools for a three day experience of faith, friendship and service. The time spent together helped all students deepen their understanding of the core values of truth, unity and love and find ways to live and promote these values in their own schools.

Philosophy/Mission Statement

  • To understand the meaning and reasons behind our Augustinian vision
  • To see, explore, and apply the Augustinian Core Values of Veritas (Truth), Unitas (Unity), and Caritas (Love)
  • To develop enthusiasm, dedication, and common purpose in our schools
  • To unite as a community, rooted in the tradition of St. Augustine

SAVI students continue to find creative ways to promote the Augustinian Values at PCHS. Celtic Nation (a student cheering section) promotes unity at sporting events. Members also facilitated the Faculty/Staff Unitas Day that highlighted sites around the campus that have a special Augustinian connection. Future projects include: providing meals for those in need, recycling, change collections (penny wars) and promotion of the Augustinian Values through the PCHS website, All-school Masses, and Celtic Time.
