Daily Announcements for 5-16-12
General
Please join Ms. Pascente in reciting the rosary Wednesday, May 16 at 2:50pm in the Chapel. All are welcome.
SENIORS: Caps and gowns will be distributed on Friday during the lunch periods. Please make sure all fines, athletic equipment, obligations, etc. are fulfilled.
SENIORS: Graduation announcements are on sale in the Main Office for $1.50 each (cash only).
As we all know Thursday is the Mother’s Day Mass. Due to the overwhelming amount of Mothers that come for that Mass we once again have to ask the Seniors to park at K-Mart and the Juniors will park on the practice football field weather permitting. (listen for further announcements)
TEAM FIERCE PIRC 5K FUN RUN/WALK: This Sunday, May 20, there will be a 5K Fun Run/Walk to be held at Lloyd Erickson Park on Chicago Ave in Elwood. All proceeds will go to the family of Brittany Pirc to offset medical expenses. Registration begins at 10am with the race/walk beginning at 12:30pm. Registration is $30.00. Brochures are available in the Main Office.
JUNIORS: If you know that the schools that you will be applying to in the fall require a Counselor letter of recommendation, then you must turn in The College Planning and Letter of Recommendation Packet that you received from Mrs. Campbell in your English classes no later than Tuesday, May 22.
Sophomores: Any sophomore who may have missed Mr. Rassman’s presentation on Junior ACTS hours for next year should stop by his room (106) and pick up a Junior Acts Hours Summary sheet ASAP. A list of acceptable service projects is on the Providence web site. Anyone with questions can see Mr. Rassman in room 106.
Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors: If you are interested in helping at the Freshman Welcome, Friday, August 24, 2012, please sign up on the board located outside the Pastoral Office, Room 113. Training will take place in a morning and evening session on Monday, August 13th. You must attend a training session to be able to help at the Freshman Welcome.
Juniors: Any Junior who would like to be considered to be a Eucharistic Minister next year, please sign your name and pick up an application in the Pastoral Office, Room 113.
The Bookstore will be open following Mother’s Day Mass on Thursday, May 17. Stop by for graduation gifts, Senior Shirts and gift certificates.
TEAM FIERCE PIRC GOLF OUTING: There will be a golf outing fundraiser for Brittany Pirc on July 28, 2012 at Sanctuary Golf Course in New Lenox. Foursomes are $500 and there is a special discount for high school students. We are currently seeking golfers, sponsors, and volunteers. Forms can be found in the Main Office. If you have any questions, please e-mail Alissa Alberico at alissaalberico@aol.com. The golf outing will feature raffles, games and unlimited refreshments. We hope you can come and support Brittany and her family.
Activities
4th Quarter Dress Down Day to benefit Brittany Pirc – On Friday, May 18, students may be out of dress code if they purchase a sticker for a minimum $1.00 donation. All proceeds will be given to the family of Brittany Pirc. Students who purchased Team Fierce Pirc t-shirts are encouraged to wear them on Friday. Stickers will be sold on Wednesday and Thursday during all lunch periods.
Yearbook will meet on Wednesday after school in Computer Lab 2.
Any AYM member looking to complete service hours over the summer should stop by room 203 for opportunities.
MOCK TRIAL TEAM: The end-of-the-year ICE CREAM PARTY will take place on Tuesday, May 22 right after school at the picnic table area. All team members are encouraged to attend.
Math Team: End of the year pizza party is Monday, 5/21, in room 202 at 3:00. Be there or be square.
Respect Life Club: Please join us for our final meeting of the year on Friday, May 18th at 7:20am. We will meet in Room 115. Hope to see you there!
SENIOR DINNER DANCE: Senior Dinner Dance checks are due to Mr. Hamilton in room 119, Wed, May 16th by 2:45pm. Please include your completed bid from and check. Remember – late checks will not be accepted.
SENIORS: Developing the “Music List” for the Senior Dinner Dance is a very important responsibility. I need your contributions and opinions in compiling this list for YOUR DANCE!
Drop your music requests in room 119. Please submit in writing the TITLE & ARTIST or each of your requests to me. Include song verses.
NO REQUESTS CAN BE TAKEN AT THE DANCE.
DEADLINE FOR REQUESTS: FRIDAY, MAY 18. 2012. The D.J. must receive the final “Approved Music List” in advance of the dance.
The Providence Catholic Color Guard will be having try-outs on Wed. 5/23/12 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
In preparation for the auditions there will be three workshops for interested students, Mon. 5/14 and Thur. 5/17 and Mon. 5/21 all from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Sports
SPORTS PHYSICALS: Sport physicals for the 2012-2013 school year will be held here at Providence Catholic on May 26th from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the gym. The cost is $25 per student. Checks can be made payable to Newsome Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Centers. Physicals will be conducted on a first come – first serve basis with no exceptions.
The Providence Catholic Girls Soccer team beat Crete on Tuesday 2-0 in the Regional semifinal. Jamie Noonan scored for the Celtics assisted by Molly Whatley. The Celtics will play for the Regional final against Lemont at 5:00pm on Friday at Lemont.
Girls track members whose season is finished, please turn in your uniform this week to Coach McCuan.
BASS FISHING: Meeting Wednesday May 16th, Bring your gear we will be fishing locally. We will also finalize the details of our weekend tournament at Clinton Lake.
