Bus Route Considerations

During the first few weeks of school, it may be necessary to adjust the bus routes with regard to pickup times and locations so that all buses will arrive at school with enough time for students to go to their lockers and proceed to their first class.  All buses should arrive at PCHS by 7:45 AM. Depending on the route, buses may stop in or near your subdivision, but will travel only on main streets in subdivisions. Students may be required to walk up to six blocks to their bus pickup point. All contracts received after June 15 will be assigned to pre-existing bus stops.

The bus will not wait for students who are not in sight when the bus driver reaches their stop.  PCHS operates several bus routes in the morning over many miles. Because of the vast territory covered, the buses will be on the road for some time. If you live furthest away from the school on the route, you most likely have the earliest pick-up time and latest drop-off time.  The majority of pickups begin after 6:15 AM.  The Providence Catholic Transportation Company is the final authority on time and location of bus pick-ups and drop-offs.

Cluster Stops

Cluster stops are needed in all zones to shorten bus routes and the length of time that students ride the bus. In some cases, parents may need to drive their student to the closest bus pickup point.  The following cluster stops are:

  • Amoco Station; Mississippi St. in Elwood
  • 167th & Forest Avenue in Tinley Park
  • Jewel; Caton Farm & Route #59 in Joliet
  • Laraway Road & Rt. 45 in Frankfort
  • St. Mary Immaculate School; Route #59 in Plainfield
  • Route #6 & I-55 in Channahon

Late Start Days

On days when there is a late start (Schedule B day), buses will pick-up 30 minutes later than normal.

Student Behavior

All Providence Catholic buses are considered to be an extension of the school. While on any Providence Catholic bus, all students are expected to act in accordance with our values and be respectful. Any student reported for inappropriate behavior will be given a detention. Depending on the offense, the student may also be suspended from riding the bus, which will be determined by the Dean’s Office.
