Several area players receive All-State nods

Recently several local girls basketball players were awarded All-State nods by two separate organizations. The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association recently released its All-State teams in conjunction with the state championship tournaments. In Class 4A, Lincoln-Way West standout Taylor Gugliuzza was given a spot on the 10-person First Team, while Bolingbrook’s Treasure Thompson secured a spot on the 10-person second team.

Providence teacher is remembered for his positive impact on school and his students

Al Wycislo spent nearly half of his life teaching at Providence Catholic High School. Wycislo taught at Providence for 32 years before retiring in 2016. He died on Jan. 17 at the age of 67.
