Computer Science Education Week Special Guests

In conjunction with Computer Science Education Week and the Hour of Code initiative, Providence Catholic invited three special guests to speak to students in Technology, AP Physics and AP Biology classes.

Mr. Scott Ehling and Mr. Rajesh Sankaran from the Mathematics and Computer Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory, spoke to students about the need for Computer Scientists and explained the Array of Things (learn more about AoT), which is an urban sensing project involving collaboration of the Computation Institute, the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Ms. Lisa DeLuca, a representative from the American Academy of Art, explained the importance of fine and commercial art in our modern day culture as well as the benefits of pursuing a career in a visual field.  Ms. DeLuca also showed many examples of professional artwork as well as promoted events at her school such as Open House and Summer Studio.
