Donor Spotlight: Frank & Marge Palmasani

A Lifetime of Dedication to Providence Catholic and the Gift of Catholic Education

For Frank and Marge Palmasani, Providence Catholic has been much more than a school. It has been a place of professional purpose, family memories, lifelong friendships and a shared commitment to helping young people succeed. With all four of their children graduating from Providence and Frank dedicating 16 years of his career to the school, the Palmasani family’s connection to the Celtic community runs deep.

Today, that connection continues through their generous support of Providence Catholic and their belief that every family who desires a Catholic education should have the opportunity to pursue one, regardless of financial circumstances.

Frank’s Providence story began in 1975, when he started what would become a remarkable 49-year career in education. During his first six years at Providence, he taught English, coached boys basketball and served as College Counselor.

After continuing his career in education and eventually retiring from Hinsdale South High School, Frank returned to Providence in 2013. For the next ten years, he once again served as College Counselor while also assisting the Director of Enrollment.

Across those 16 years, Frank helped guide generations of Celtics through important decisions about their futures, celebrated their accomplishments and witnessed firsthand the lasting impact of a Providence education.

For the Palmasani family, that impact is personal. All four of Frank and Marge’s children are Providence graduates, making the school an important part of their family’s story both inside and outside the classroom.

Having spent so many years working directly with Providence students and families, Frank understands the sacrifices parents often make to provide their children with a Catholic education.

Through his involvement in the financial aid process, he gained a deeper appreciation for the challenges some families face and the extraordinary commitment they make to their children’s futures.

“What I learned working at PCHS was the financial sacrifices some families make to have their sons and daughters attend,” Frank shared.

Those experiences helped shape his conviction that supporting Catholic education is not simply about giving back to an institution. It is about helping make opportunities possible for students who might otherwise be unable to afford them.

“I have a deep conviction that any current or past family who has the means should try to help those who want a Catholic education for their child, but who do not have the means to afford today’s cost.”

For Frank and Marge, giving to Providence is an investment in young people, their families and the future of Catholic education.

Frank’s years at Providence gave him a unique perspective on the many programs that make a Catholic education meaningful. While he holds a special connection to college counseling, his passion extends to the entire student experience.

As a longtime College Counselor, he believes strongly in helping students and families navigate the college search process and discover opportunities that make higher education accessible.

“I believe we should strive to provide the finest college counseling program in the Chicago area,” he explained. “Families should see the return of their investment in the way of college access and college scholarship opportunities.”

He also recognizes the importance of building a strong culture of enrollment, one in which every member of the Providence community plays a role in welcoming future Celtics.

“Enrollment is not the responsibility of the individuals whose titles bear that name,” Frank shared. “All stakeholders play a part in encouraging families to attend by sharing the features and benefits of a PCHS education.”

Equally important to Frank is the spiritual foundation that makes Providence Catholic unique.

From daily prayer and all-school Masses to the transformative experience of Kairos retreats, he has seen how faith formation helps students grow in ways that extend far beyond the classroom.

Having served as a Kairos faculty leader each year during his return to Providence, Frank witnessed the powerful connections and personal growth that occur when students and faculty share their faith journeys.

When reflecting on his years at Providence, Frank has no shortage of favorite memories.

During his first six years, he helped coach the boys basketball program through an exciting era that included three trips downstate and a state championship. Watching school spirit grow as students rallied around the team’s success remains a particularly special memory. He also recalls the excitement of witnessing a football state championship and three consecutive baseball state championships.

Yet, while those athletic accomplishments stand out, Frank says some of his most cherished memories are found in the everyday moments that define the Providence experience.

The laughter and conversations shared with colleagues. The relationships built with students. The satisfaction of watching a senior navigate the college search process and finally make that important decision about the next chapter of life. And, of course, the Kairos retreats, where hearing students and fellow faculty members share personal stories of faith created unforgettable experiences.

Together, those moments represent what Providence has meant to the Palmasani family: a community built on relationships, shared values and a commitment to helping one another grow.

For Frank and Marge, supporting Providence Catholic reflects something greater than loyalty to a school. It is an expression of gratitude for the blessings they have received and a belief in sharing those blessings with others.

“We believe our faith calls us to recognize the gifts that God has provided us, and do what we can to share those gifts with others.”

He acknowledges that there are countless worthy organizations deserving of support, but believes Providence holds a special place for those who value Catholic education.

“If one is inclined to support Catholic education, one cannot go wrong providing that support to PCHS,” he shared. “The Providence administration, faculty, and staff will be wonderful stewards, attempting to provide a comprehensive quality four-year high school experience for those young people entrusted to their care.”

Through their generosity, Frank and Marge are helping ensure that the opportunities, experiences and traditions that have meant so much to their own family remain available to future generations of Celtics.

Providence Catholic is deeply grateful to Frank and Marge Palmasani for their years of dedication, their unwavering belief in Catholic education and their continued generosity. Their story reminds us that the true legacy of Providence is found not only in the lives we shape, but in the opportunities we create for those who follow.

Thank you, Frank and Marge, for being such an important part of the Celtic family.
