Eight Athletes Commit to Collegiate Athletics

Mr. Doug Ternik, Athletic Director at Providence Catholic High School, announced that eight student-athletes will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level in football.

“We are extremely proud of these eight student-athletes and everything they have accomplished at Providence Catholic,” Ternik said. “Their dedication in the classroom and in competition reflects the values of our athletic program, and we are excited to see them take the next step in their academic and athletic careers.”


Bryce Tencza of Tinley Park has committed to Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, where he will continue his football career on an scholarship. The son of Stanley and Cindy Tencza, Bryce attended Christa McAuliffe Elementary School and Virgil I. Grissom Middle School.

A standout student, Bryce is a consistent High Honor Roll recipient and has earned First Honors every semester throughout high school. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Student Augustinian Values Institute (S.A.V.I.), and has been involved in Student Council, I.A.L.A.C. 2.0, and Kairos leadership. Bryce has also served as a Celtic Time Leader, earned Student of the Month recognition multiple times, and was named Homecoming King as a senior.

Athletically, Bryce was a multi-sport athlete at Providence Catholic, competing in football, baseball, and basketball. He was a four-year member of both the football and baseball programs and a three-year varsity contributor in each. On the football field, Bryce earned numerous honors, including First Team All-State (Class 5A), First Team All-Area, First Team All-Conference, and Academic All-State recognition as a senior. He also served as a team captain and helped lead the Celtics to a Class 5A State Runner-Up finish. In baseball, Bryce was a member of the 2024 IHSA State Championship team.

Bryce plans to major in Engineering with a minor in Kinesiology at Lafayette.

“Providence is a college-course school, and it has already prepared us for college and for life after college,” Bryce said. “The classes they offer help prepare you for whatever major you want to go into, and some of them even give college credit. PCHS has prepared me for college in every aspect.”

Bryce expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his journey. “I want to thank God for the blessing He has given me,” he said. “I want to thank my parents for being by my side my whole life and pushing me through every battle. I also want to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for always supporting me and pushing me to be better. The bond I had with my teammates was special and will always stick with me.”

Reflecting on his faith experience, Bryce added, “I didn’t really have a faith life before Providence, but once I got here, I grew a lot in my faith. PCHS helped teach me about religion and allowed me to grow closer to God. I’m still growing in my faith now and will continue to do so in college.”

In addition to his academic and athletic achievements, Bryce volunteers annually with Special Olympics and at the VFW in his community, assists with school events, and is a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.


Gunnar Thormeyer of Frankfort has committed to Wabash College in Indiana, where he will continue his football and track and field careers on an academic scholarship. The son of Jason and Theresa Thormeyer, Gunnar is a member of St. Anthony Parish and a graduate of Hickory Creek Middle School.

A dedicated student-athlete, Gunnar is a consistent Honor Roll student and has been highly involved in the Providence Catholic community. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and I.A.L.A.C. 2.0, and has earned recognition as an AP Scholar. Gunnar has also served as a Student Ambassador throughout all four years, as well as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan, reflecting his leadership and commitment to service.

Athletically, Gunnar has been a four-year member of both the football and track and field programs at Providence Catholic, while also competing in wrestling as a freshman. On the football field, he earned the Top Scholar Athlete Award from the Great American Rivalry Series and the Providence Academic Award as a senior, and qualified for the IHSA State Playoffs as a freshman and senior. In track and field, Gunnar qualified for the IHSA State Meet as a junior.

Gunnar plans to major in Engineering with a minor in Economics at Wabash College. He will attend on the Presidential Scholarship, Snodell Scholarship, and Honors Scholarship.

“Providence has been a blessing for me in my college search,” Gunnar said. “The level of academics and how accessible the staff is was above all of my expectations. All of my teachers were always available to help me, and the support I received meant a lot.”

Gunnar expressed appreciation for those who helped him along the way. “I want to thank my coaches and my parents,” he said. “My coaches were always pushing my teammates and me to be successful, and I couldn’t ask for better people to teach me the sports I love. My parents supported me every step of the way, and I owe a lot to my mom and dad for helping me continue my athletic career and doing everything they could for me.”

Reflecting on his faith journey, Gunnar added, “I’ve become closer to my peers and teachers through the spiritual opportunities Providence offers. I became a Sacristan and a Eucharistic Minister, and I’m really grateful I did. The spiritual side of the school is very strong, and the people truly care about each other. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend my high school years.”


Xavier Coleman of Matteson will be signing with Western Illinois University to continue his football career on an Academic and Athletic Scholarship. A consistent Honor Roll student, Xavier is a graduate of Huth Middle School and has been a four-year member of the Providence Catholic High School football program.

The son of Minya Owens and Calvin Coleman, Xavier has been supported every step of the way throughout his academic and athletic journey.

On the field, Xavier has been a standout contributor for the Celtics throughout his high school career. A four-year varsity player, he earned First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference honors, served as a team captain, and helped lead Providence Catholic to a state runner-up finish. His leadership and performance made him a key presence on both sides of the ball during his time with the program.

Xavier’s dedication to the game and to his team has been evident throughout all four years, as he consistently set the standard through his work ethic, competitiveness, and leadership. 

“I want to firstly thank God for the path that He has set for me. I want to thank all the coaches and teammates that contributed to my journey. Finally, my family — their constant support has been a huge part of my journey.”

Xavier will continue his academic and athletic career at Western Illinois University, where he looks forward to competing at the collegiate level and continuing to grow both on and off the field.


Ryan Lenahan of Joliet has committed to Concordia University Wisconsin, where he will continue his football career on an academic scholarship. The son of Tom and Angie Lenahan, Ryan is a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Minooka and a graduate of Minooka Junior High School.

A consistent Honor Roll student, Ryan has been actively involved in the Providence Catholic community. He participated in Augustinian Youth Ministry as a freshman and has served as a Celtic Ambassador during his freshman and sophomore years.

A true multi-sport athlete, Ryan competed in four sports during his time at Providence Catholic. He was a four-year member of the football, wrestling, and track and field programs, while also competing in rugby with the LW Cobras throughout all four years. On the football field, Ryan earned Second Team All–Chicago Catholic League honors as a senior, was named the Matt Senffner Award winner, and was selected as Celtic of the Week twice during the 2025 season. He also helped lead the Celtics to IHSA State Runner-Up finishes in 2022 and 2025. In wrestling, Ryan placed second in the IHSA Class 2A Regional as a senior.

Ryan plans to major in Business with a minor in Management at Concordia University Wisconsin and will attend on an athletic scholarship.

“I’ve felt challenged both in and out of the classroom at Providence,” Ryan said.

Ryan expressed appreciation for the support he has received throughout his journey. “I’d like to thank my parents and my family—my sisters, grandparents, aunts, and uncles—as well as all of my teachers and coaches throughout my academic and athletic career.”

Reflecting on his faith experience, Ryan added, “I believe spirituality has played a role in my life and has helped me throughout my years at Providence.”


Trevor Martino of Joliet has committed to Ripon College, where he will continue his football career. The son of Mike and Sarah Martino, Trevor is a graduate of Central Middle School.

A consistent Honor Roll student, Trevor is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, and has balanced strong academics with athletics throughout his time at Providence Catholic.

Trevor was a four-year member of both the football and track programs at Providence Catholic. On the football field, he was named a Legacy of Six Captain as a senior, recognizing his leadership and commitment to the program.

Trevor will attend Ripon College on the Dean Scholarship and Trustee Award, and plans to major in Physical Therapy with a minor in Business.

“PCHS has prepared me by showing me the work ethic required to succeed at the college level, both in the classroom and on the field,” Trevor said.

Trevor expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his journey. “I’d like to thank my parents for believing in me and putting me in the right situation to succeed,” he said. “I’d also like to thank Coach Plantz for bringing me into Providence Catholic and giving me the opportunity to live out my dream of playing football in college.”


Dominic Infelise of Joliet has committed to Ball State University, where he will continue his football career on an athletic scholarship. The son of Benio and Alison Infelise, Dominic is a member of Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish and a graduate of Homer Junior High School.

Dominic was a four-year member of the Providence Catholic football program and also competed in wrestling during his freshman and sophomore years. On the football field, he earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in the Chicago Catholic League Orange Division and was named All-Conference, establishing himself as one of the top defensive players in the league.

Dominic will attend Ball State University on a full football scholarship and plans to major in Business.

“Providence has taught me useful techniques to become better as a person, not only as a student,” Dominic said.

Dominic expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his journey. “I want to thank Adam Siwicki, Tyler Plantz, Mike Uremovich, Vince Ambrose, Mike Pitton, my mom, my dad, and God for helping me get to this point.”

Reflecting on the role of faith in his life, Dominic added, “It has made me a better person, from the way I treat people to the effort I put forward in life.”


Gavin Farley of Mokena has committed to St. Xavier University, where he will continue his football career. The son of Tom and Anita Farley, Gavin is a member of St. Mary Parish in Mokena and a graduate of St. Mary School.

A consistent Honor Roll student, Gavin is a member of the National Honor Society and has balanced strong academics with athletics throughout his time at Providence Catholic.

On the field, Gavin was a four-year member of the Providence Catholic football program and also competed in track as a freshman. He earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors as a junior and was named All-Conference as a senior, recognizing his development and impact on the program.

Gavin will attend St. Xavier University on a football scholarship and plans to major in Finance with a minor in Accounting.

“Providence Catholic has prepared me for college by pushing me to be disciplined and ready to compete every day,” Gavin said. “The coaches, teachers, and my teammates helped me grow on and off the field. Because of that, I feel confident taking the next step in my football and academic journey.”

Gavin expressed gratitude to those who supported him along the way. “I want to thank my parents for always supporting me and pushing me to be my best,” he said. “I also want to thank my teammates for pushing me every day and being like family.”

Reflecting on his faith experience, Gavin added, “Spirituality has played a big role in my time at Providence by helping me stay grounded and focused. It taught me to trust the process and stay strong through challenges. My faith has helped shape who I am on and off the field.”


Joseph Levy of Frankfort has committed to St. Ambrose University, where he will continue his football career. The son of Aaron and Nicole Levy, Joey is a member of St. Anthony’s Parish and a graduate of Hickory Creek Middle School.

Joey competed in football and lacrosse during his time at Providence Catholic, playing football as a senior and lacrosse as a junior. On the football field, he earned All-Conference honors as a senior, recognizing his contributions and performance during the season.

Joey will attend St. Ambrose University on a combination of athletic and academic scholarships and plans to major in Sports Medicine.

“My last year and a half at PCHS has strengthened me academically as well as athletically,” Joey said. “My time at PCHS has prepared me for my next four years at St. Ambrose.”

Joey expressed appreciation for those who helped him reach this milestone. “I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity, as well as the entire coaching staff at PCHS for helping prepare me for the next level,” he said. “I especially want to thank Coach Plantz, Coach Nissen, Coach Flood, and Logan Plantz. I also want to thank the St. Ambrose coaches for trusting in me and allowing me to be a part of something special. Lastly, I want to thank my whole family, especially my parents, for always being there and supporting me throughout my football career.”

Reflecting on his faith, Joey added, “Spirituality has played a huge role in my life at PCHS. It has taught me that I always have someone to lean on in bad times and that I am never alone. It helped me during football season and allowed me to connect with others.”
