PCHS Alumnae, Taylor Stanish ’09 Takes Over PCHS Cheerleading Program

(New Lenox) – Doug Ternik, Athletic Director of Providence Catholic High School, is pleased to announce the hiring of Taylor Stanish as the new head Cheerleading Coach.

Stanish is a Tinley Park native and a 2009 graduate of Providence Catholic. She has been cheerleading for almost 15 years, during her time in the Providence Cheerleading program, Stanish competed in the NCA Nationals in Dallas, Texas and the IHSA

State Finals at ISU. After graduating from Providence Catholic, she attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo Michigan where she studied Human Resource Management.

“I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to be the new Head Cheerleading Coach at Providence Catholic,” says Stanish. “I have been the Assistant Coach at Providence for the past three years and being an alum of the program myself, I am excited to give back to something that has given so much to me.”

Stanish comes with over a 15-year background in cheerleading and a 5-year background in coaching. Prior to accepting the head coaching position at Providence, Stanish was the Assistant Varsity Cheerleading Coach at Cardinal Joseph Bernardine where she assisted coaching them to their 7th consecutive IESA State Championship.

The cheerleading team has a good foundation of veterans returning for this season, and Stanish believes they will bring great leadership to a new group of girls. “My hopes for this season is to continue the legacy of Providence Catholic and see the PC Cheerleading Program grow,” she says.

Stanish says one of her one of her biggest mentors has been former coaches, Laura Duesing and Peggy Jensen. “It has been such an experience coaching with them these last few years in the PC Program,” she says. “I cannot thank Laura and Peggy enough for giving me the opportunity to begin my coaching career here at Providence Catholic.”
