Providence Catholic Art Students Recognized at Lewis University Art Invitational

NEW LENOX (January 26, 2023) – Fine Arts are an important aspect of academics at Providence Catholic High School, and five students recently participated in an art invitational held by the Lewis University Art Gallery – The Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery. This month, Lewis University hosted a reception for the artists and their families, including Providence Catholic students Daphne Arispe, Samantha Dumstorf, Evangelina Gabrisko, Kira Gumenyuk, and Tabatha Shirley. Samantha earned an Honorable Mention while Kira earned Third Place.

“We are very grateful for local opportunities for our young artists to share their work,” says Denise Zlogar, Art teacher at Providence Catholic High School. “Art is such a wonderful way for students to express themselves. Each of these students created pieces in different styles that highlight what they’ve learned in class and in life. Lewis University hosts an incredible competition each year, and their gallery is just beautiful. We extend our congratulations to all of the students from the many schools who participated.”

The Fine Arts Department at Providence Catholic High School teaches students the fundamentals of self-expression and creativity. It provides an avenue for the development of the aesthetic potential of students and a means of achieving emotional satisfaction and fulfillment in an artistic experience. Sensitivity to aesthetics illuminates an individual’s environment, everyday life experiences, and innermost reflection on human living. To learn more, visit online at www.providencecatholic.org.
