Providence Catholic Inducts 109 New Members Into the National Honor Society
(New Lenox, IL – March 20, 2025) – The Providence Catholic High School (PCHS) Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) proudly announces the induction of 109 outstanding new members during a prestigious ceremony held at the school. This distinguished group consists of 105 juniors and 4 seniors, all of whom have demonstrated exceptional academic achievements and a commitment to the values of leadership, service, and character. These students join the 100 current seniors who were inducted last year.
To qualify for membership, students must maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 and above, and be in grades 11 and 12. Additionally, they are required to exhibit excellence in the areas of leadership, service, and character, making the National Honor Society the nation’s premier organization for recognizing outstanding high school students.
During the induction ceremony, the senior members were conferred with NHS stoles, symbolizing their dedication to upholding the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, and service. Mr. Paul Houston, Principal, joined PCHS President, Father John Merkelis, OSA, in awarding the stoles upon recipients.
“Being part of the NHS at Providence Catholic is a recognition of students’ dedication to academic achievement and their contributions to the school community,” says Mr. Kevin Oliver, NHS Moderator. “Our newly inducted members are committed to upholding the principles of servant-leadership and are encouraged to continue making a positive impact on those around them.”
As members of the Providence Catholic Chapter, these students will actively engage in a variety of service activities that will benefit both the school and surrounding communities, further exemplifying their dedication to making a positive impact.
