Providence Catholic Inducts New AYM Members

NEW LENOX (April 18, 2024) – Father John Merkelis, O.S.A., led the induction ceremony welcoming 41 students and four student directors into the ranks of the Augustinian Youth Ministry organization at Providence Catholic High School on April 18. “You are all some of the most important people in the history of the world,” he said during his Homily. “You have the power to change someone’s life with your words. What an awesome gift we all hold. You have to choose whether you use that gift for good. Never grow tired of doing good.”

The Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM) is dedicated to fostering Christian service and promoting Augustinian spirituality within the community. AYM coordinates various initiatives such as blood drives, food collections, clothing donations, and a range of other service projects. These efforts not only benefit the wider community but also enrich the high school experience. AYM participants are also committed to contributing 10 hours of service to their parish or local community.

“I’m immensely proud to serve as the moderator of the Augustinian Youth Ministry because I witness firsthand the remarkable generosity of these students,” expressed AYM Moderator Jennifer Williams. “Whether they’re making a difference on our campus or within their neighborhoods, these students embody the core values of Providence Catholic and actively strive to enhance our community.”

AYM’s leadership team includes leaders Bella Morey, Alex Beltran, Annemarie Chaveriet, and Mia Alvarado.
