Providence Catholic Names First Fine Arts Student of the Year at Graduation

NEW LENOX (May 26, 2023) – For the first time ever, Providence Catholic High School awarded the Fine Arts Student of the Year honor at graduation on May 20, 2023.

“This award will be presented annually at graduation to a senior for their outstanding participation, achievement, and contribution in Fine Arts courses and activities,” said Mr. Paul Houston, Principal.

This year’s inaugural recipient, Cecilia Santschi of New Lenox, has participated in many facets of the Providence Catholic Fine Arts Program. In the visual arts, Cecilia maintained an A in all five classes she took and was a member of Art Club and the National Art Honor Society.

In performing arts, she earned lead roles in several theatre productions and was an active member of our award-winning choir. In addition, she was in last year’s Marching Band show as Eurydice, she took AP Music Theory, and took all but one fine arts class.

“Her passion for all three areas of the fine arts is exemplary and infectious,” says Dr. Stacy Eckert, Director of Choirs, Liturgical Music and Theatre at Providence Catholic. “She sincerely cares about the current and future status of the fine arts at Providence, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have watched her grow and thrive in the arts during her time here.”
