Providence Catholic Unveils New Mission Statement

Vince Ambrose, PCHS Admissions Officer places the new Mission Statement in the classrooms

Fr. John Merkelis, OSA, President of Providence Catholic High School, has unveiled the new Mission Statement for the school. The revised Statement will help guide the school’s administration while making strategic decisions and it will be used to gauge the success of the school’s long-range goals and strategies. The Mission Statement communicates the purpose of the school.

In preparation for its accreditation process, Merkelis formed a committee representing administration, faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and community leaders to help clarify the school’s mission.

The group of forty participated in a day of reflection, small group work, and discussion. “One of the greatest strengths of any school community is its people; and specifically, their voices that can speak to a school’s past, present, and future,” said Merkelis. I am proud of the end result of that hard work: It is a profound and beautiful articulation of our mission.”
School staff is busy this summer updating the school’s Mission Statement in every classroom and throughout the school including the school’s website.

“It is important that the entire school community can articulate our mission in order to support our continued success in the ministry of Catholic education in the Augustinian tradition,” said Ed Barrett, Director of Advancement and committee member.
