Statement From Providence Catholic
Shortly before noon, school leadership was contacted by New Lenox police that they received information regarding a social media post by a Providence Catholic student presenting a safety threat to the school. Police officers arrived on campus and asked administration to get the student. The student, their locker, and their vehicle were all searched, and nothing was found. The student’s parent was contacted, and the student left with the police. Police assured us that they would maintain a presence on campus for the rest of the day.
Providence Catholic was not on lockdown at any time today, and at no point was it determined that there was a credible threat. Providence Catholic administration followed the directive of law enforcement not to lock down.
Nothing is more important than the welfare of the students entrusted to our care, and we will continue to monitor our campus closely. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
