Providence Catholic Art Students Recognized at University of St. Francis Competition

NEW LENOX (March 7, 2023) – Fine Arts are an important aspect of academics at Providence Catholic High School, and five students recently participated in an art invitational held by the University of St. Francis. Students Ana Ullsmith, Maria Krumdrick, Eva Gabrisko, Samantha Dumstorf, and Alex Perkins all participated in the event. Ullsmith earned an Honorable Mention, and Eva Gabrisko earned an Award of Excellence.

“This was another wonderful competition hosted by a local university for young artists, and we are always excited to be a part of it,” says Denise Zlogar, Art teacher at Providence Catholic High School. “Art is just one way students express themselves creatively, and having the opportunity to have their work reviewed and seen by the community is such a great way for them to grow as artists. We are grateful to the University of St. Francis for this experience.”

The Fine Arts Department at Providence Catholic High School teaches students the fundamentals of self-expression and creativity. It provides an avenue for the development of the aesthetic potential of students and a means of achieving emotional satisfaction and fulfillment in an artistic experience. Sensitivity to aesthetics illuminates an individual’s environment, everyday life experiences, and innermost reflection on human living. To learn more, visit online at www.providencecatholic.org.
