Three Athletes Commit to Collegiate Athletics
Mr. Doug Ternik, Athletic Director at Providence Catholic High School, announced that football players Brenden Grohn, Danny Jones, and Luke Leverett will be continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. “We couldn’t be prouder of these outstanding young athletes, who have excelled both in the classroom and as a leader in their sport. As they take this exciting next step, we extend our best wishes for their future and look forward to seeing all they will accomplish, both on the field and beyond,” said Ternik.
Brenden Grohn, of Joliet, has committed to Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A dedicated student-athlete, Grohn has been a key member of the Providence Catholic football team for four years. In addition to football, he competed in track and field during his sophomore, junior, and senior years and played baseball as a freshman. Grohn, a graduate of Liberty Junior High, plans to major in Business with a minor in Sports Management. He is the son of Jerry and Julie Grohn. “I would like to thank my mom, dad, family, close friends, coaches, and God for helping me get to this point in my athletic career,” said Grohn.
Danny Jones, of New Lenox, will continue his football career at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. A four-year member of the Providence Catholic football team, Jones also played baseball during his freshman and sophomore years. Off the field, he has worked hard academically, earning a place on the honor roll. Jones, a graduate of Liberty Junior High and a member of St. Jude New Lenox Parish, plans to major in Business Administration. He is the son of Patrick and Kathleen Jones. “I would like to thank Coach Plantz, all the assistant coaches, my mom and dad, and my teammates,” said Jones.
Luke Leverett, of Frankfort, will continue his football career at University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana. A four-year member of the Providence Catholic football team, Leverett also competed in track and field during his four years at Providence. He has been named All-Conference (twice), All-Area (twice), All-State (once), CCL Defensive Player of the Year, and Team Defensive MVP Off The Field. Leverett has worked hard academically, consistently earning a place on the honor roll. He is a graduate of Noonan Academy and a member of St. Anthony Parish. Leverett plans to major in Chemical Engineering. He is the son of Walter and Ophelia Leverett. “I would like to thank Coach Plantz, Coach Hryn, Mrs. Martino, and Mrs. Harris,” said Leverett. “Providence has instilled a belief system that will guide my steps along my journey.”
