Week of Giving 2022 Projects: Science Equipment

Project: Science Equipment Wish-List
Goal: $5,000 (Stretch goal is $15,000)

At Providence Catholic, students in the sciences have the opportunity to take their classroom learning and apply it to hands-on projects – which takes learning to the next level! The Science Department has several wish-list items that would enhance classroom education for all of our science students.

Engineering Science Shop Materials

  • Upgrading safety of the physical build space including storage boxes and chests for tools, materials, a shop vac, and dust collection.
  • Additional Upgrading of shop tools to create a cohesive collection/set of tools for use in physical production.

Science Laboratory Probe ware (Product Category – Vernier)

  • Upgrading our science laboratory probe ware (Temperature sensors, motion sensors, pressure sensors, etc.) to increase the functionality and practicality of laboratory activities.

VR Laboratory

  • Research, development, and establishment of a virtual reality/augmented reality lab program that would allow our Anatomy and Physiology students to get a hands-on experience in systems and environments that would not be feasible with a physical specimen.
  • This would also allow us to extend VR and AR into other electives like Astronomy.

Laser CNC (Atomstack X7 Pro 50W Flagship Dual-Laser Cutter & Engraving Machine)

  • This will allow students in our Engineering Science Program to have even more access to physical modeling tools.
  • With an increased focus on 3D design, this will allow another avenue for students to create a physical product.
  • The updated Engineering Science Workshop and student creation space will also be able to be utilized by other student groups and clubs.

To start us off, the Spesia family has made a generous matching gift of $1,000 – so your gift counts for double! Click on the Make A Gift button and choose the project you would like to support!
