Providence Catholic High School Makes Plan for a Safe Return To School

Providence Catholic High School leadership is making plans to return to school this fall. In late April, Providence Catholic leadership formed a Re-Opening Committee comprised of administrators, faculty and staff to develop education plans that address various scenarios for returning to school. The committee is addressing both in-person and eLearning instruction models. “Once the state provides us with guidelines, we will be ready for any scenario,” said the school’s President, Fr. John Merkelis, OSA.

I write to you in light of the recent Mass of the Solemnity of Pentecost and in the current unrest that our nation experiences. Fr. I was in the process of writing a letter to our various Board members to inform them of Providence Catholic’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic.  In doing so, I was quite impressed with the number and quality of things we are doing, many behind the scenes, to navigate our Providence Family through rough waters.  And so, I decided to provide this report to all of the Providence Families to let you know how we are facing such a challenging situation.

Recently, our faculty and staff took part in a retreat where four members of the PCHS family came back to talk about their experience: Mr. Pergi, Mr. Palmasani, Colleen Mitros Manuszak ’08, and Jackie Quirke Poulos ’05.
