AYM Students Collect Donations for Undy Sunday and Catholic Charities

Providence Catholic High School’s Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM) hosted a drive for Undy Sunday, in conjunction with Catholic Charities.

According to Catholic Charities, “Most people take things like underwear for granted. At Catholic Charities, we have found that low-income families and seniors living on poverty-level incomes do not spend money on underwear and they desperately need it. Last year, 50 parishes, schools and organizations participated in the program. The collection make a huge difference in the lives of our clients and we pray that we can provide these much-needed items again this year.”

Students collected underwear and socks for donation during Homecoming Week, as one of the many fundraisers and mission-oriented projects they take part in each year. The Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM) is charged with promoting Christian service and Augustinian spirituality in the community. AYM organizes blood donor drives, food drives, clothing drives, and many other service activities. Their service projects benefit the community at large as well as the high school. AYM members are also required to complete 10 hours of service to their parish or community.

“This is one of the many ways students work together to give back to the communities they live in,” says Mrs. Jennifer Williams, AYM Moderator. “Students take on a leadership role with these initiatives to coordinate, market, and encourage their classmates to participate. We are grateful to have community organizations to partner with on these much-needed fundraisers, and look forward to finding new ways to give back this year.”
