Students’ Lenten Calendars

Lenten Calendar 2018:  Focusing on Catholic Social Teaching

St. Augustine said: Lent is not just 40 days to get through; rather it is the epitome of our lives.

With that in mind, Fr. Rich Young’s Catholic Social Teaching classes have worked to put together a digital Lenten calendar as a way to invite others to engage more fully in our Lenten journey while at the same time learning a bit more about the different aspects of Catholic Social Teaching.  The two calendars, one from each Catholic Social Teaching class, are modeled on similar digital calendars as found on bustedhalo.com as well as the USCCB website.

Students were divided into working groups, assigned to reflect upon the following themes:

  • February 14-17, March 31, April 1 – Care for God’s Creation
  • February 18-24 – Life and Dignity of the Human Person
  • February 25 – March 3 – Call to Community, Family and Participation
  • March 4-10 – Rights and Responsibilities
  • March 11-17 – Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
  • March 18-24 – The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
  • March 25-30 – Solidarity

With the help of Mrs. Rosanne Grigoletti, Director of Technology, each class collaborated to create a Lenten calendar for the first time.  We hope that this offering to you will not only help in your Lenten journey, but also impact your daily life.
