Conquering College Costs

Last year’s graduating class at Providence Catholic High School saw 97% of seniors go on to college, 33 athletic commitments, and over $45 million offered in college scholarships. This is, in part, due to the extensive college preparation offered by the Counseling Department. As an example, on Wednesday, October 2, Frank Palmasani shared his college seminar on “Conquering College Costs” at Providence Catholic. This seminar shares every possible way to reduce the college sticker price and show families how to find affordable college options.
“This is my 44th year in education, and for more than 30 years, I’ve been delivering seminars like this to parents of high school students,” explains Palmasani. “Part of preparing students for the next step in their educational journey is helping these families reduce the college sticker price, find ways to manage college costs without incurring excessive debt, and learn what to do and when to do it.”

Palmasani, in his seminar, introduces families to a unique method of finding affordable college options. A member of the Providence Catholic team for the last six years, Palmasani and the Counseling team have incorporated these methods into college planning with juniors and seniors.

As a team, Providence Catholic has developed a comprehensive college search and selection program that involves parents in the process. One feature of this program is meeting with every junior and their parents in small group settings during the Spring semester. These programs are small examples of the extensive work done by the counselors at Providence Catholic that have produced these outstanding college and scholarship results.
